One Thousand And One Persian Stories – Part 1

When this spring we saw the opportunity to start working on our dream “Roya Store”  we grabbed the chance and set our goal to launch Roya Store by September 2017. Working on this project till now has been a joyful journey full of beautiful surprises.

One of the highlights for us has been our trip last July to Tehran to get connected to different artists and select carefully our first collection. Already before we left to Tehran we were positively surprised by all the professional portfolios of different artists on Instagram. We were very excited and looking forward to meet as many of them as possible in person and hear their stories. Our dear friend Maryam Fayazi who lives in Tehran had already contacted a few of them. Together with her we started visiting different artists, hearing their stories and getting amazed by their aspiration.

The day after our arrival we got the chance to visit an exhibition in Tehran, presenting the work of a few young distinctive artists. By spending an afternoon there we met three of the young artists that we wanted to connect to: Swallow, Dar Kargah and Boote. Young, educated and determined Iranians who have formed their own designs and philosophy and create handmade products with love and dedication. It was inspiring how Dar Kargah has grown from making their products at home to a beautiful atelier in Kashan and even recently a shop in Tehran! It was exciting to hear how Swallow is creating new collections and she is working on combining macramé with gold jewelry and last but not least we fell in love with Boote’s simple and elegant designs. Do you want to know more about them? Read their stories here.
